Rachael Grace Miller (Granddaughter)

This morning my family received the news our papa passed away. My heart is shattered over the loss of one of the greatest men I’ve ever known. He was truly the light of our family and things will be dimmer without him around. It’s hard to put into words how much he meant to us. He was one of the best people to have a conversation with because one minute he was offering you so much knowledge and wisdom and the next he was making you laugh so hard your drink would shoot out of your nose. He was also one of the most forward thinking persons I knew and I was always amazed by this. He was filled with so much love for everyone he met and overflowing with generosity. But one of the things I loved most about him was that he was one of the few people in my life who had the ability to remind me to truly be still. Whether it was having a cup of coffee together in the morning while the sun came up, walking through the mountains in North Carolina or sitting by the fire and enjoying a good book he always reminded me that amidst the chaos of life we still need to find these moments and cherish them. He changed my life and I am so grateful addy got a couple of years with him, I can’t wait to tell her stories about her papa and grandmama and the loved he held for “my sweets” (what he called our grandmama every time he spoke of her) their love was truly one of a kind and I adored the stories he shared with us about their life together. They are two of the greatest people I’ve ever known!

Until we see you again papa, all my love.
